Restaurants' logos research

The research on font assignment lead me to the research on logos design for restaurants.
Firstly, all of 50 pages resulting on Google with "restaurant logo" give me only one logo that uses Bickham Script Pro font ^^:

As my research, the common way to design an attractive logo for a restaurant is to use script fonts and smooth images.

1.
Firstly, the easiest way is to combine the name of the restaurant and the pictures of food or drinks:

2.
Secondly, combining the name and decorative images of spoons, forks, knives and dishes:

3. Thirdly, the logo contain the name and an image that relates to the name:

4. Another way is to put the name with an image that illustrate the features of the restaurant:

5. More abstract, the font is carefully chosen or created in other to make the logo simple but express the restaurant itself so that the logo has nothing than the name of the restaurant

6. Abstract images with very-good choice of typeface that make the logo unique and excite the customers with curiosity:

Weird room

This is an image that I created by illustrator. I drew the sofa, the table, the chimney, windows, curtains, wall and floor. Other things are symbols in illustrator.

My idea is a weird room. Firstly, you can recognize a little bit the style of the room but then, something strange appears in your eyes. Secondly, if you look carefully inside it, each element in the room is in different style but they all make the unity.

Logo fonts

The FONTFEED [link]

You can find the information by clicking on the link
... or here...

Logo is the first step which define the brand name and also decides whether the customer will choose our brand name or the others. The logos should have the ability to show the characteristic of the products, services or the features that we want the customers to feel about our company.
The color and images in the logos should be decided carefully in order to make appropriate with the right target of customers. Besides, the font of the text in the logo is also very important. If we do it right, the logo is a bridge that bring the customers to us, otherwise, we fail at the first step in our business.

This website introduces some of the trends in designing logo with specific fonts. We can have a look at them at see if we can "feel" the logo... or not??!!!

Firstly, these logos with soft and rounded typefaces can make us feel friendly and lively. As you can see, those are the services of sharing through the internet, which is a quite cold market but when we look at the logo, we can feel the ability of connection inside the logo. Usually, the font types with round edges and bold are used in this trend, THE SOFTIES

Secondly, THE FUTURISTS is the name of this trend. Using hard edges and pixel faces fonts is the way to reflect "tomorrow's techno". These kinds of fonts create the feeling of transferring process, I think. They show something that are clear and straight and easy to be connected.

Thirdly, it will be safe and easier if we use the fonts that were invented long ago and were popular in design and obviously accepted in wide ranges. That's why THE CLASSICS trend is used the most in decorating logos.

A little information about the fonts, hope you enjoy it and hope it will be helpful for your next typeface assignment.

Style Guide

These are some of the definitions of style guide:

SLIDE: " Any document that gives "rules" about the way a brand or design strategy should be implemented. Details what the 'brand' looks like, and breaks down the component stylistic elements that go into making up the 'brand' "

WIKI: " A style guide or style manual is a set of standards for design and writing of documents, either for general use or for a specific publication or organization. [link]
For myself, I think style guide is just the rules, the guide for you to follow but not for trapping your idea.

IDENTITYWORKS.COM: "The word 'Guidelines' is in fashion, but implies flexibility. I prefer 'Standards.' The appearance and exposure of the corporate brand must be constant. In even the most entrepreneurial corporate culture where "all permissions are granted unless expressly denied," identity must be the great exception, in which all permissions are denied unless expressly granted. Otherwise, chaos will rule." [link]

I found some example about style guide:

California State University Sacramento [link 1] [link 2]

As I can see, the guide is quite strict because the unity in creating the logo is very important to show the brand name and the image of the organization. The stricter the guide, the better the unity of the design system.
